The Québec Forest Industry Council (QFIC) was founded following the pooling of the activities of three previously distinct associations: the Québec Forest Industries Association (QFIA), the Québec Hardwood Lumber and Veneer Association (QHLVA) and the Quebec Lumber Manufacturers Association (QLMA). Most of the lumbermanufacturing, veneer manufacturingand pulp and paper manufacturing companies active in Québec have merged into a single entity, making the new QFIC a major force to reckon with in this core sector of the economy of Québec and of the outlying regions in particular.
